I am enjoying a long visit of tourism and art research in the UK. Since my 16 year old son has arrived we have been nipping in and out of museums and galleries. His words: “what? you mean galleries and museums are FREE?!”
I am so discouraged about the paltry investments that our country and province makes to art and culture. I appreciate your analysis of per capita spending. Can this be done for other western countries? I am very curious about how Canada compares internationally.

The one *good* thing the cuts are doing is bringing awareness. We thought we had our priorities straight before but apparently we did not. You are getting a first hand reminder of how other countries value art and culture compared to Canada. And like the graph shows, BC has been at the bottom of the heap even before the cuts. Lois, this is not my graph, i have seen it on many sites and am not sure the original source. I would also be interested to see how Canada stacks up compared to other countries….
